If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
Here at Lawrence View Primary and Nursery School we have an admission number of 30.
This process is dealt with by school directly through our school office and member of staff in charge of admissions. You can apply to nursery at any time up to when the child is due to start school. Nursery places are allocated to children in the term after their 3rd Birthday. Nursery forms are available from the school office.
If you would like to look around our Nursery please contact the school office to make an appointment.
Once you have filled the application form in, our member of staff with the responsibility for admissions will calculate the date that your child is due to start. We will then inform you whether your child has a place one school term before the due start date. Prior to your child beginning in nursery we will endeavour for them to have a 'getting to know' session.
Applying to Full Time School (Reception year)
This process is called first admissions and is dealt with directly by the local authority. You will receive a letter directly to your home address in the November of the school year prior to the next academic year when your child will become five. You can apply online or submit a paper application. The local authority must receive your application by early the following January. You will receive confirmation about which school your child can attend towards the end of the following March. Once you have accepted the place then school will contact you with some transition arrangements.
Community Infant and Primary Schools Standard Reception Year Admission Criteria
In the event of over-subscription, the following criteria will be applied, in priority order, to determine which applications will be granted:
1.Children in public care
2.Children who live in the catchment area and who, at the time of admission, will have a brother or sister attending the school or linked junior/primary school.
3.Other children who live in the catchment area.
4.Children who live outside the catchment area and who, at the time of admission, will have a brother or sister attending the school or the linked junior/primary school.
5.Other children who live outside the catchment area.
In the event of over-subscription within any criterion, preference will be given to children who live nearest to the school as the crow flies. Distances are measured from the entrance to the child's home to the principal entrance to the main administrative building of the school.
Moving schools during term time
You may be moving your child to our school within a school year. This is possible. You need to collect a transfer form from the child's current school and return it to them once you have completed it. They will then send it to the Local Authority Admissions department who will deal with the transfer initially. Once the transfer has been agreed by both schools then a start date is decided and a transition process begins which the new school will organise and contact you about directly.
