COVID testing
Could we ask families if any of the children have COVID symptoms that they immediately isolate and make an appointment for a PCR test. (This is the test which is sent away). We have a small number of the PCR home testing kits in school if required. This test is more sensitive and will give a clearer result for those who are symptomatic. Children with a negative PCR result should only return to school once well enough and symptoms have subsided.
The lateral flow tests (results in 20-30 minutes) are for those without symptoms. A positive lateral flow test result should be followed by a second test using a PCR test.
Lateral flow tests are used by adults in school regularly to check for possible asymptomatic people. Any positive results would result in isolation and a subsequent PCR test of staff members.
Thankyou for your continued support.
