Curriculum

At Lawrence View Primary and Nursery School, our curriculum is designed to ensure that every child can Learn, Grow and Achieve. Guided by our values of Respect, Curiosity, Aspiration, Resilience and Kindness, we provide a broad, ambitious and inclusive curriculum that develops secure knowledge, strong skills and a love of learning.

Our curriculum is rooted in the National Curriculum and informed by the latest educational research. We carefully identify the essential knowledge, vocabulary and concepts that we want children to learn and remember. Through evidence-informed teaching, retrieval practice and carefully sequenced learning, we ensure that pupils know more, remember more and apply their learning with increasing confidence and independence across the curriculum.

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum. We recognise that strong literacy skills open doors to future success, enabling children to access learning across all subjects and develop as confident communicators. Alongside reading, we place a strong emphasis on oracy, writing and mathematics, helping pupils to develop the necessar6y foundational skills to become articulate speakers, fluent readers, capable writers and resilient mathematicians who can reason, explain and solve problems effectively.

We have high expectations for all learners. Through adaptive teaching and targeted support, we ensure that every pupil, including those with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, can access the full curriculum, experience success and achieve their potential. We encourage children to think deeply about their learning, develop independence and use effective strategies to overcome challenges.

At Lawrence View, education extends beyond the classroom. We believe that a rich programme of enrichment opportunities enhances academic learning and broadens children's horizons. Through educational visits, sporting events, performances, clubs, leadership opportunities and wider experiences, pupils develop confidence, character and cultural capital, preparing them for the next stage of their education and future life.

Alongside academic achievement, we place great importance on personal development, emotional wellbeing and pastoral care. We strive to develop confident, respectful and responsible young people who are equipped to make a positive contribution to their communities and the wider world.

We are proud to hold the highest standard externally validated Quality Marks in Science, History, Geography, PE and Games, Personal Development, Thinking Skills and Music, reflecting our commitment to excellence across the curriculum.

Working in partnership with parents, governors and the wider community, we are committed to providing the very best educational experiences for every child in a warm, caring and inclusive environment.

At Lawrence View, we believe that every child can succeed, and our curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils are empowered to Learn, Grow and Achieve.
