Forest School

Forest School
At Lawrence View Primary and Nursery School, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Our Forest School programme provides children with regular opportunities to learn, explore and develop through hands-on experiences in the natural environment, supporting our vision to Learn, Grow and Achieve.
Forest School plays an important role in developing the whole child. Through carefully planned outdoor learning experiences, children build confidence, independence and resilience whilst developing teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. It also supports their physical wellbeing, creativity and connection with the natural world.
Our Forest School is led by Miss Howarth, a fully qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader, who provides engaging and child-centred experiences that encourage exploration, curiosity and a love of learning. Mrs Harbon is also a level 2 qualified forest school.
Sessions take place within our school grounds and woodland area, where children participate in a range of exciting activities designed to challenge and inspire them. These may include den building, nature investigations, fire lighting and cooking, tool use, knot tying, habitat creation, natural art and team challenges.
Children typically take part in a series of regular weekly sessions, allowing them to develop new skills over time and build confidence in a familiar outdoor environment. The Forest School approach encourages children to take appropriate risks, work collaboratively and develop perseverance when faced with challenges.
Reflecting our values of Respect, Curiosity, Aspiration, Resilience and Kindness, Forest School provides rich opportunities for children to learn about themselves, others and the world around them. The experiences gained outdoors enhance learning across the curriculum, strengthen wellbeing and create lasting memories that support children's personal growth.
At Lawrence View, we are proud to offer Forest School as part of our commitment to providing a broad, enriching and well-rounded education for every child.
